New book celebrates 25 years of Home of Hope and the woman behind countless changed lives

Love for No Reason tells the story of Khanyisile "Mam'Khanyi" Motsa and the Johannesburg non-profit that has spent 25 years helping vulnerable girls heal, learn and rebuild their futures.

JOHANNESBURG, 11 August 2026 As South Africa marks Women's Month, a newly launched book is turning national attention to Khanyisile Motsa, affectionately known as “Mam’Khanyi”, and her 25-year commitment to giving vulnerable girls a safe place to heal, grow and rebuild their futures.

Love for No Reason was officially launched on 8 August as Home of Hope for Girls celebrated its 25th anniversary with supporters, partners and friends who gathered to honour the organisation's remarkable journey and the lives it has touched over the past quarter century.

The book tells the story of Mam'Khanyi, who founded Home of Hope for Girls in 2000. More than a commemorative publication, Love for No Reason captures a journey of faith, courage and unwavering commitment to providing a safe, loving home for girls who have experienced abuse, neglect, trafficking, exploitation and other forms of extreme vulnerability.

For 25 years, Home of Hope has offered far more than shelter. It has created a place of safety where girls can heal from trauma, continue their education and prepare for independent, hope-filled futures.

The anniversary celebration also marked the launch of the Home of Hope Circle – Giving hope. Changing lives. This monthly giving initiative invites South Africans to extend the spirit of Mandela Month throughout the year by supporting the organisation's ongoing work through contributions from R67 per month.

"Every girl who comes through our doors deserves to know that her past does not define her future. Love for No Reason is not my story alone – it is the story of courageous girls who chose hope over despair, and of the many people who have walked this journey with us over the past 25 years. My prayer is that this book inspires others to become part of the next chapter by helping us give even more girls the opportunity to heal, dream and thrive," says Mam'Khanyi.
